PISTON RING

YOLSAN has been manufacturing dry, wet and air cooled liners for any kind of vehicles.

The raw material comprises of combination of Pig Iron, Mild Steel, some iron scrap material and cast iron. The correct proportions have to be chosen for different vehicles depending on properties required by their matching components and as specified by the original equipment manufacturers. This conglomerate is melted in an induction furnace supplied by heating under controlled electric supply (high ampere, low voltage) for a specified time and attaining required melting temperature of 1400-2000°c. A small quantity is tested in a sample cup, for the material composition. The required grade of Carbon, Manganese and Silicon is ensured in the first step by the in-house metal analyzer supplied. Slag material is removed before some additives like Nickel, Molybdenum, Chromium, Copper etc. are added in small quantities as recommended to develop desired strength, hardness and surface finish in the final product. Next, the molten metal is taken into ladles and poured into rotating die machines where it is cast centrifugally. Hardness is checked for each and every piece on a Brinell hardness tester.

Liners which are produced in centrifugal casting method, are manufactured as same the original engine manufactures specifications. With A type ofgraphite and phosphate structure the liner also has a good adaptation with piston rings freom the other piston ring manufactures.

Cylinder liners are parts which are produced under a very sensitive process. Therefore they are very sensitive stokes and damages. Take attention between transportation, opening the box and installation into the engine. Cylinder liners must have a vertical position and do not use wet place to keep them in store.

In some internal combustion engines, it is found desirable to have the cylinder walls of controlled thickness or to have wearing surfaces betterthan the type with cylinders and block cast in one piece. In such cases, the cylinders are made individually in the form of a sleeve and inserted into the block. With this method renewable kind cylinders are obtained. One type of these sleves come directly in contact with cooling water. The sealing gaskets and rubber rings are placed at the top and bottom of the sleeve to prevent the leakage of cooling water circulating around it. This kind of sleeve is called “Wet Type Cylinder Liner”. In another case, the bores of engine block are made over size and special thin sleeves are fitted into them This is known as “Dry Type Cylinder Liner” because the cooling water does not come in contact with it and no gaskets are required for the sealing

There is a certain service advantage to either the wet or dry type liner. When the cylinder wears, a new liner can be installed which is sometimes more economical then resurfacing the inside of the cylinders, integral with the engine block, to an oversize dimension and fitting oversize pistons and rings. We manufacture and supply all liners as centrifugally cast and fully in conformance with the original engine manufacturer’s specifications, whether they are dry or wet type and either semi finished machined of finished machined and honed. The cast iron composition, graphite formation and distribution, phosphide net formation match with all pistonrings of outstanding manufacturers. The cylinder liners can also be supplied with surface treatments as phosphated or chromium plated to overcome the corrosion and cavitation erosion problems. Cylinder liners are precision made and therefore they are very sensitive against shocks and compressions. In order to avoid deformations and damages they must be handled with care during packing, transportation, storage and unpacking. New liners must always be stored in upright position.
